My early recollections of "who I wanted to be when I grew up" was a country music superstar. By age three, I was reciting the articulated verses of "D-I-V-O-R-C-E" by Tammy Wynette, age 5, "YOU AIN'T WOMAN ENOUGH TO TAKE MY MAN" age 7, "MAKING LOVE IN MY CHEVY VAN age 10, "TAKE THIS JOB AND SHOVE IT" much to the chagrin of my mother who desperately hoped I would be a doctor. After entering college to be a doctor of psychology, I finally realized as a sophomore, the only classes I could stay awake for was art and music hence my transfer to the Graphic Design Department and an employment as a part time troubadour of western, country and cowboy music.

I had no plans of being a proprietress of a design, marketing & internet company upon arriving in Cody, Wyoming in 1993 it just fell into place. I had been a designer in the corporate arena back East for a few years and felt the need to change my surroundings. After a trip to Yellowstone in 1976 and then a trip to Cody in 1992, I moved West the next year. I opened Walking Star Design in 1995 and have since had an office in Billings, Montana in 1997-1999 with plans to expand again in the next 6 years. I have had the pleasure of working with many designers in the last 15 years and feel I now have one of the best teams in the Walking Star office. I also did not plan on a team of primarily just women, it just seems they were 6 of the brightest and most creative, each with their individual strengths and all with a unique sense of humor.

I have three serious passions in life. Art, animals and my husband. All of which I've been able to surround myself with, so I consider myself very lucky to get to do what I love everyday, spend my time with our two Spaniels and two Maine Coon cats and after the work is done I get to share good times with my hubby and a few great friends.
I've been an artist all my life and although I did not grow up with computers, I always knew I would be doing something creative for a living. I have been employed as a professional web developer/graphic designer for over 10 years now.

I firmly believe that's it's everyone's responsibility to give back to the community so I do that when I can while still doing what I love.

With going on 6 years of industry experience, I have to say that the challenge to understand and interpret a clients "vision" has repeatedly been an exhilarating experience for me. I love to find uniqueness in the simplest of things - the elegance of typography, or discovering a masterpiece from serendipity.

Since childhood I have had a passion for the arts. After discovering Graphic Design in high school, I set my sights on someday supporting myself and family by achieving a career which inspired me. And now, with a wonderful 5 month old baby girl, what once was a young girl's dream is now my reality.

Charity owns Distinctive Designs, located in Cody, in addition to working for Walking Star. You can see her work at www.creativedistinct.com.

Washo
"Keeper of the Gate"

Washo is the Walking Star Mascot his job title is "Greeter" to all who pass through the gate of the studio. Washo is an Old English Mastiff and weights out at 200 pounds. He is only three years old, yet stands about 36 inches high and about four and a half feet long. No small stepper this guy and if you do not share your lunch with him he will slobber all over you.

Dutchess
"Princess Pooch"
aka donut snatcher

Dutchess is the shy one of the bunch. Her aversive bark and mad dash to be under foot or desk is a sure tell sign someone is approaching the area. She may be shy but she is slick as slime when you leave the morning donuts too close to the counters edge. She has been know to devourer over a dozen assorted sweets all by her self. Faithful companion to the keeper or the gate or partner in crime depends on any given day what they find to get into.
